MedFlow AI Clinical Copilot
MedFlow uses AI to reduce documentation time, not to make clinical decisions. Every AI-assisted output is a draft until an authorised healthcare professional reviews and approves it.
What the copilot does
- Drafts clinical notes from the information already recorded in the encounter
- Structures dictated or free-text notes into a consistent format
- Summarises long records for handover and review
- Supports voice-to-structured-note capture
- Surfaces decision-support prompts such as abnormal trends, unacknowledged results and risk flags
- Assists radiology and laboratory reporting workflows as a drafting aid
Human oversight
AI-generated clinical content must be reviewed and approved by an authorised healthcare professional before becoming part of the patient record. MedFlow records which content was AI-assisted, who accepted it and when, and finalised notes must be formally revised before further AI suggestions can be accepted.
What the copilot does not do
- It does not diagnose patients or issue treatment instructions on its own
- It does not write to the patient record without clinician approval
- It does not replace clinical judgement or professional accountability
Capability status
- AI-assisted note drafting — Draft notes and summaries requiring clinician approval. (implemented)
- Provenance tracking — Records AI-assisted content, reviewer and timestamp. (implemented)
- Voice-to-note — Requires a speech-recognition service account and credentials. (configurable)
- Decision-support rules — Rule thresholds configured with your clinical governance team. (configurable)
Technical architecture
- AI features run through a governed server-side gateway; model credentials are never exposed to the browser.
- AI requests and outcomes are logged for audit, and clinical acceptance is recorded separately from generation.
Frequently asked questions
- Does AI make clinical decisions in MedFlow? No. AI drafts and prompts are decision support only. An authorised healthcare professional must review and approve any AI-assisted content before it becomes part of the patient record.
- Can we switch AI features off? Yes. AI features are configurable per facility and per role, and can be disabled entirely.
